Military to Construction Careers (M2CC) Committee

The M2CC Committee strengthens Arizona's heavy civil construction industry by expanding awareness of construction as a viable post-military career path while serving as disciplined translators between military service and industry expectations — helping AZAGC members and affiliates engage veteran talent with reduced risk and helping veterans enter the industry with realistic preparation and long-term growth potential.

A standing committee of the Arizona Chapter, Associated General Contractors of America (AZAGC). Through partnership with VetsConstruct this system is always free — for veterans, AZAGC members, and AZAGC affiliates.

What the M2CC Committee Does

We advise, translate, and advocate. We do not hire, place, or guarantee outcomes. All employment decisions remain with AZAGC members and affiliates.

Outreach & Screening

Introducing heavy civil construction as a viable post-military career path while conducting candid readiness assessments relative to industry expectations and technical requirements.

Exposure & Mentorship

Coordinating jobsite exposure opportunities and assigning committee members to provide perspective, clarify misconceptions, and reinforce humility in transition.

Referral & Insight

Making informed introductions to AZAGC members' and affiliates' hiring teams with clear context regarding what has — and has not — been assessed.

What Guides Us

“Successful transition is not only about employment. It is about finding a team, a mission, and a sense of belonging that supports long-term performance and retention.”

Purpose, Team & Belonging

“Respect is demonstrated through truth — not inflated promises, softened standards, or misplaced encouragement.”

Advocacy Grounded in Honesty

“Military service is honored but not romanticized. Veterans are capable professionals — neither charity cases nor automatically qualified for authority or leadership roles within a new industry.”

Dignity Without Romanticism

“Success is measured by long-term engagement, retention, and meaningful contribution — not by short-term placement metrics. Sustainable alignment benefits both the individual and the employer.”

Long-Term Fit Over Initial Entry

Why Arizona Construction?

Arizona's heavy civil construction industry is experiencing unprecedented growth. With billions of dollars in infrastructure projects — from highway expansions and water treatment facilities to commercial developments and renewable energy installations — there has never been a better time to build a career in construction.

Military service and heavy civil construction share operational characteristics — high-risk environments, compressed timelines, coordinated execution, and accountability to the team. Veteran strengths enhance performance when paired with industry-specific technical competence, and the M2CC Committee exists to help bridge that gap with realistic preparation.
